Why I Write

Why do I write? That is a complicated question. One that I, myself, am not sure how to answer.
I guess to explain my writing thoroughly, I should explain how my love for writing came to be. The first book I ever read and loved was "The Time Capsule." It captivated me because I never before realized how reading could be something enjoyable, something to be done in your free time. The writing style, the word choice, the sequence of events, the choice in characters and theme, it all amazed me. That is why I started to write. I wanted to produce something that could bring as much pleasure to someone that this book gave to me.
But why else to I write?
I write to entertain, but to entertain who? I show my writing to no one. Only my eyes see what I write when I write it on my own time. Maybe I write to entertain myself, or the audience that I pretend to be reading my work, or the audience I wish would eventually read my work.
I write because writing gives me an escape. It is an escape from the high school girl's world full of petty drama and selfish people. Who on earth would want to be constantly stuck in that world anyhow? No one sane, I think. When I'm sick of being in the middle of a fight or trying to solve a problem that isn't even mine, I write to get away from it; to make my own little world full of wonders that originated in my head, a place where I could be happy living for the rest of my life.

  1. Pardis, change your font. This one is cool for a header or something, but for the post's body text, it's killing my eyeballs. :)
